2003 3.0 diesel leaking transmission fluid help.....

Post by Tizzard. » Mon Sep 10, 2012 7:42 pm

My car has been fine until Friday when I did a 40mile trip to find that the car was leaking transmission fluid. I got the car on a ramp the next day to try and see where from. The pan was dry but there was drips of fluid from where the box is bolted to the engine. Topped the fluid up and ran the car all weekend with no leaks. Got home from work today 15miles... And it is leaking again. Took the cover off and the pan is dry but there is loads of fluid dipping from the bottom of the box where it's bolted to the engine....... The car drives fine. Has anyone had this problem as its leaking that bad I don't want to use the car.

I think that you're going to have to remove the gearbox from the car to find out.  Torque converter and associated seals is the obvious culprit I suspect...... :o :'(

Sounds like Gearbox input oil seal leaking.
Goes around the torque convertor shaft

Look in the manual:-

Easy to fix, once you have the box out.
My record for box in, test and out again is 4 hours.

Feel free to try and beat that!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Pah, that is nothing.

In 4 hours, I will have the car raised in the air, ready to start on the gearbox  :))

Lol - in 4 hours i can have the car delivered to my local transmission specialist, have my pants pulled down and return home in a taxi whilst they fix :D

Torque converter including labour is £500 or so at JT Automatics.  Take a look at their site for pricing.
