My local dealer JKC BMW in N Ireland have one at the moment in Monte Carlo, looks fantastic, very tempting at £42k less negotiation, 14k miles. I know they send lots of cars to England as my last X5 was sold by them to a buyer in Bournemouth I believe.

According to the 'How Many Left' website, there are only 134 on the UK DVLA register now, so finding one could definitely be a challenge. The only one I've ever seen was a Dealer Demo a couple of years back. Good Luck with the search though...there must be a few for sale now.
Oh, and Welcome to the Forum too.....

Thank you for the replies
I am aware of the X5M in Ireland, I've had a look at the full spec of the car and this particular example only has a few optional extras.
On BMW's approved used site they only have 5 of these cars for sale.
It's quite a rare car, however i'm not in no rush and will wait for the right car.

I was too late with this car, it's been sold. It had everything I wanted except the pan roof.
With regards to the black car that's been mentioned, that particular garage does not have a very good reputation.

Ok will keep my eyes out for as with only a hundred or so in the country they are rare and I agree the blue is a nice colour

Right I have good news and bad news.
Bad news first. Being that I am not a very patient person I am now no longer pursuing an X5M.
There are none available with the spec I'm after, and it might be a while till one becomes available.
Good news is that I went to look at a 4 litre D X5 in M Sport today and I ended up leaving a deposit on the vehicle.
I had no real intention of buying it and just wanted to view the car as it was fairly local to me.
I was literally blown away by the spec and condition of the car.
It's got BMW's performance alloys on which look stunning. I don't think I've seen another X5 with these on.
I'll post some pictures of it when I've picked it up.
Lastly I'm going to need to change my username

Sounds good, but just in case you missed it somewhere, the 40D isn't a 4-litre. It's a 3.0L straight 6 with two variable geometry and differently sized turbos and the 8-spd box. Oh, and although not a V8 they still have a gruff 'get up and go' sound and are very quick. I think it got called the 40D because BMW were using the '35D' to indicate the twin turbo, and the newer version is still a twin but with dissimilar sized turbos, hence 40D.
More than a few 'hot hatches' and some 'sport saloons' have been shown the clean rear end of my X6. Those who have later asked have been even more embarrassed to find they've been left standing by a 2-tonne oil burner....

You'll love the car. I have always though the non-M versions have a better looking front end. The big air scoops just didn't look right for some reason IMHO.

Congrats on the new motor, good choice. Will be much easier to sell on than an X5M will be.
So whats the colour and full spec?
Make sure you have read up on the chipping on the sides of X5 with 20" wheels and ensure yours has the protective film fitted.

Congrats...it is a fantastic machine and as Richard has said its got plenty of oomph.
What's this chipping issue..do the cars come fitted with this protective film?

There's an issue with the 20" wheels on the X5 damaging the paint around the rear wheel arches. BMWs answer is to fit a clear film in the areas affected to stop impacts chipping the paint.
You can also rider the same clear film from Dealers to protect the rear bumper from being scratched by luggage - though not such an issue with the X5 due to the double tailgate. The X6 having a 'hatch' is at risk and I got mine done.
