Advice please - Selling Pro-Video Hardware

Post by X5Sport » Fri Aug 03, 2012 12:39 pm

A bit of an odd one really, but do any of you know of sensible places to get rid of professional video cameras?

ebay is an option I know, but not one I favour given the notional value of this piece of kit (around £3,500) as the listing fees and charges are rather more than I'm prepared to accept!!

A few years back we were going to start a video business to run alongside the still photography/printing side and I bought what was then a very expensive (mrp was around £7k) Canon XL H1 Professional HD Camera.  Then came a job change, the cabin baggage restrictions for flights - and the excessive charges for excess baggage too - and the advent of high quality 'domestic' HD camcorders meant any Tom, Dipesh or Jane could do it themselves and that was the final nail in the coffin.

Long story short, I now have this little used 'shoulder' mount HD Camera sitting in a cupboard getting precious little use.  The obvious thing is to sell it to someone who might be able to make full use of it's capabilities.  I have spoken to a couple of places but they are only interested in trade-ups - and I'm not in the market for a £25k HD CAM system thanks!!

Thank you for that..... :). And run by Amazon.....which means it should be safer than some of the less er....salubrious sites.....shall we say!

I'll ping em the details and see what happens.  As long as they don't want silly money to 'handle' it then it's a very good spot.... :ok: :ok:

The only other one I've now come across is TVBay.....but that looks like eBay to me.

Advertising at your local (or not so local if you choose) college or uni that is running a decent media course may be an option?

Good luck with the sale
