Hi all, been snooping in the background and though it was time to contribute as I get my first E70 on Sunday.  It's a 2008 30sd with the dynamic pack,  comfort sets,  media,  xenon,  etc....

And being a forum junky here are the obligatory pics.....

Coming from an E61 535d touring and BMW5 forum.

Quick question,  to remap or not?  If so Emaps?

Welcome aboard and very nice example.

Seems well spec'd from what you've listed.

Remap or not? Remap always...lol. I've used Simon at emails a couple of times. Really nice guy.

Can recommend home or our resident Jason at BWChiptune.

Cheer Raj,  picking it up in morning,  feel like a kid on Xmas eve!

Happy to use Jason if he does trips to Glasgow?  Emaps are coming in at £350 for predicted 350bhp remap. Will run it for the week and book something after then.

Anyone fitted the new brighter LEDs?

Welcome along and enjoy the drive home. The X looks great.

Remap? Always :)

Jason can do the posta-map option if that's any good?
See http://www.xdrivers.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1634 for more details :)

Thanks Rusty. ..... I like the look of this.  Few questions:

1. Will this still be relatively undetectable by BMW?  As Emaps and DMS talk about resetting some software counter etc?
2. If so would it be advisable to flash back to stock when the car is going in for servicing?
3. Is there any stats on the potential 3 settings? , (power,  economy or both) I. E. BHP/Torque /MPG

Nice example

You'll find grey X5's are much faster than any other colour ;)

Welcome to the madhouse...... :D

A very nice looking car too.  I do like the Comfort Seats, once I can remember what button does what!

No worries,

1. If you take your X to the stealers and they 'do' any work to it as in updates etc, you will lose your map as they re-write the lot, which is why you can buy the 'magic box' from Jas so you can reset it to standard before sending it in, then rewrite the map of choice back when you get home.

2. See 1.

3. On a facelift 218bhp diesel E53 I think Jas said you will get approx +40bhp & torques with a sensible power + economy map, as well as and extra 3mpg ish too.  I couldn't tell you about the E70 though, sorry.

All in all, I would recommend ;)

Yeah the 'Magic Box'  sounds good and I do love my gadgets!!  Going to drive it for a few weeks to get used to it,  then decide if I trust myself to do it myself.

Well pick the car up last night and WOW.!  The 535d is ultimately quicker and deals with motorway expansion joints better,  but that's it.  The X5 is simply the more advance car.  And the comfort seats are soooooooooo comfy!  The way the shoulder adjustment rolls the top of the seat in,  the bolster adjustment holds you and the moving lumber??  I have a slightly bad back and if anyone here is reading this looking at getting an X5 for me they are now No1 option to have.

Dealer in Stirling was as always fabulous.

Thanks for the welcomes and I endeavour to ask some stupid questions and post some more pics once I have got it properly valeted.

Welcone

I made the same move as You but prefer the 535

Mine remapped by Simon which was good but not sure I'd bother again

Dealers can now identify mapped cars so worth considering if you bought with a warranty.

Interesting,  so even if returned to std with one of Jason Magic boxes before the car goes back into the dealers,  I am risking my 2 year AUC warranty?

I don't know enough about those boxes but I am under the impression that they still leave some sort of stamp on the ECU so that dealers will know it has been tinkered with

Jason is this the case?

Separate question. If the car has a voice button on the steering wheel,  does the car have voice control?

Your car has the older Ecu type so it will be much harder to prove if it's been remapped if you flash the Ecu back to stock
But I would recommend you clear all fault codes before it goes in to the dealers
With the remap on these 30sd we bring these up to 345bhp 700nm of torque which I have posted here
http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdr ... ic.php?t=3
This was tested by the owner of the car on his dyno dynamics rolling road which we made there tuned files for

As I have always said if I can tell a car has been remapped by driving it or through the diagnostics which is very very easy then I'm sure BMW can

Mine certainly has that.  Press it and see what happens..... ;)

And there's about 20 pages of commands to learn too..... >:( :o :-[

Follow posts #4 and #6 on this thread and then select 'Options' at the top of the screen and you'll get the build list for your car with all the options added in the factory.. :)  You do need to allow pop-ups just for this site.  You can then print the list.  You are looking for Option S620A.
