Does anybody know of a place in the UK that supplies just the screen for he 16:9 screen or know how much for the screen from Hong Kong  (as stated in this link http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdr ... ic.php?t=1) and how long it took to get here, also how reliable they are.

The reason for this is some of the pixels have died and gone to a better place, only about 7 or 8 at the moment, but sure when they hear it's a good place to be, more will follow. O:-) O:-) O:-) O:-) O:-) bye bye pixels

Not sure on a uk supplier for the screens but I believe the units are made by Alpine. If that's the case the. May be possible to get in touch with them and source a replacement screen.

Another option is you could buy my secondhand unit I removed from mine. No dead pixels and fully working for £150 and the. Sell yours on on eBay or the like to recoup the cost. Just a thought.

It's the tape version. But you could swap the whole screens over if yours is cd and then sell the tape version with your original screen on.

Slightly off-topic but, did BMW ever fit a CD version?  I know I had the multichanger in the boot so got a tape head unit (how quaint!).  Our E46 has a MiniDisc Head, and I've never seen a CD version hence the question.  BMW told me there wasn't enough depth in the dash for the MD head and as a CD is even bigger you can understand my curiosity.

Rumours only and need to be confirmed by a VERY late 06 plate E53 owner but the last of them were supposed to have a CD version, never seen one though!

Mine was delivered om 29-6-06 and it has a casette  :'(

Actually, I've lost some pixels recently...well, more like grey blodges, some of which look like small flying saucers. Has anyone had that before. Could be the heat down here but it's not done it before.

Just to check then, the 16:9 sat nav head unit from an E46 (3 series) does that not fit into an E53. The E46 has a wider box at the back on top, so now guessing this will not fit in the dashboard?

The reason I'm asking is the E46 comes with CD.

E46 one won't fit, well not straight forward anyway.

Received an email from

www.eurotech-lcd.com

They have quoted £122  for the 6.5" screen delivered to the UK.

Bit of a risk and then a mission if you need to send it back.

Try faulty/parts only units off eBay. Not sure Raj still has his but that was at least a working unit...?

Car goes in for MOT in a couple of weeks, but will consider your offer if the car does not try to wipeout the bank account.
