X5 Wannabe

Post by A1GSS » Wed Jul 04, 2012 9:05 pm

Hi all,

Long time BMW owner, now looking at an X5; will probably be looking 2-4 years old. I'm moving across from an L322 Range Rover. Loved it in many ways,  but too dull to drive, I want that BMW tightness back.
Looking: BMW X5 3.0d M Sport
Gone: BMW 330D; BMW 323i Cabrio; BMW 535i

Hello and Welcome to the forum.  Any particular E70 model you are after?  Am assuming that you age range means the 2nd generation X5 rather than the first?

No you aren't, I changed my reply whilst you were typing as I couldn't remember whether the model line-up still had petrol version - they do, but I was double checking.  I promise not to do it again..... :D

The newer you can get then the better they are in terms of emissions and power and gearbox.  2010 builds have the 8-sp gearbox and are cheaper to tax.....though more expensive to buy just now..

Ahah, thank you! Do the newer petrol ones depreciate like a stone...? I'd prefer to get into the latest version if I can but I think budget is against me. £25k or maybe a bit more; I doubt I'd get a 2010 car for that.

I'll take a look.
