How long does it take?

First post here, great to find a forum based in the UK!

I have something big and shiny on order and I am counting down the weeks...

It's an xdrive 40d SE in black sapphire / black leather with:
Media pack,
Dynamic pack
Aluminium running boards
Reversing camera with top view
Luggage compartment separating net
Ext. Mirrors, folding auto dimming
Elec front seats with driver memory
Seat heating front
Dark bamboo int trim
Third row seating
Aux heating with remote
BMW business loudspeaker system
Sun protection glass

My dealer reckons it should be delivered the first week of December, at what point do they actually start building it, working backwards. I have read the stuff about tracking your status, but that only seems to work in the US.

Thanks

X5muffin

Welcome ! and congrats on the order - I'm getting itchy waiting on my E70 too :-) ordered in July expected to be in end of October :-)

Dealer called me other week to say it was built and awaiting shipment so getting closer every day :-)

I keep tweaking the options list, I am hoping that doesn't affect my built slot in any way.

The dealer reckons that towards the end of the year BMW tend to under-commit and over-deliver on new vehicles to make sure that everything is complete for year end figures with a small buffer. Could be a load of old rubbish, but I want to believe!!!

Fingers crossed.

Welcome to the forum!

Nice to see more E70 owners here. Awsome car, was in Avtars yesterday at some obscene speeds and soooooo comfortable!

I don't think tweaking options does any harm .... Dealer will tell you when they get the parts ready to build it and changing options at that stage will either not be possible or will cause delay, depending on what option. Delivery varies after build because yours might be last one on the boat, or first one to wait for the next boat. They all go to Germany before delivery to the uk too!

No problems with tweaking, at some point the dealer will say it cant be done.

The wait is very difficult, I am somewhere between barely contained excitement, impatience and frustration! :D This probably explains why I keep on revisiting the options list!

Does anyone know, off-hand what the internal dimensions are of the centre console storage box? I need to work out how much space there is for a dvd player and two screens when not in use. TIA!

My offhand answer would be "not enough"!

+1, not for 2 screens and a dvd player

That's a shame...

So what do you do for rear screens? The factory fit option is only one screen and looked to be within accidental kicking range (of small kids) and I read that it gets in the way when stowed.

I looked into the roof mounted BMW accessory option but at £3000, I think not! (for a DVD, really??) :o

I am thinking about the Nextbase Click and Go Duo, which BMW also OEM, hence the storage question...

I want something easy to store within the X5, but secure (ie not on show). I don't want cable spagetti and needs to be quick and easy to mount. Something tells me that I may have to compromise on some of these somewhere!

Delivery I expects varies we placed order 1st week of August and have delivery date to dealer of 16th November and collection date of 30th November which messed up our holiday plans as was going to France for half term. Dealer told us would be maximum of 8 - 12 weeks and even checked computer of availability surprise surprise after placing order times have changed.
