Definately should have rivets fitted in there they are one fit only.

Ours has plastic fixings, but I guess you're talking about the same fixing?

Does
this Realoem diagram help at all? It looks as if there should be a number of rivets fitted.

Looks like items 14
screw piccie & 15
rivet piccie on the diagram. If I'm reading it right, it's one of each on each side. Screw at the lower point, rivet in the upper one. Part numbers on the drawing.

I remembered that the dealer had taken these off a few months ago and resprayed them so I sent them the pictures and they have accepted that they did not refit the rivets for some reason it had been overlooked ,so are sending someone out to fit the correct plastic rivets as you need a special tool to fit them.

That's a bit of a result then. 1. Getting the Dealer to cough to it, and 2. Getting them to come to you and fix it.....well done

Denys, did you get hem resprayed because of chipping? My arches are shameful (see post on 20"wheels) and need replacing or painting and was wondering if you had done under warranty?

Hi yes i did get them and the sills done under warranty also they fitted the 3m clear protection tape for free after i showed the stone chips to the dealer ,there are lots of cases of BMW doing this under warranty ,be persistant as they tried to fob me off, until i showed them the print outs from this forum.took me a few weeks to get them to admit it but in the end they agreed to do it and replaced two wheels as well, incidently last week they came out to my house and replaced the rivets as well, which they forgot to refit.
