Right guys, I think I've made a mistake!
After getting frustrated trying to find the right X5, I decided to buy a 3.0i petrol privately. As many of you warned me on here, it is seriously underpowered and it's starting to wind me up.
I knew going from a 750 to a X5 3.0 Sport would take some getting used to but I'm really struggling with the lack of oomph. I have therefore decided to go for a 4.4.
I'm going to get the car detailed and brought up to a decent standard - previous owner didn't have a clue. I like to sell my cars as I would expect to buy one. Cars only done 50k on the clock so someone will get a bargain at £10k.
Please let me know if anyone is interested.
Onwards and upwards!!

The 3.0 engine is a good one but the problem with the X5 is the weight.
Oh well, you live and learn.
You can always buy my 4.8 as is for £14k....

You gave it a shot - as said you live and learn!
When I checked up costs to purchase and run a 3.0 petrol compared to 4.4 it was just not worth the compromise to me. I still had my 250bhp 3.2V6 Alfa 147 at the time so needed something with as much go as possible as a replacement or I would have been underwhelmed

I did the same.........except I went the full distance and got the best specced 4.8is I could find in place of my not-too-shabby 3.0i. The 3.0 was fine and it did the job, but always felt as though something was missing like it needed that bit more power, engine flat put all the time, and fuel consumption high as engine had to work so hard. Decision made easier by gearbox known fault popping up and not wanting to fight warranty company ( was a warranty direct plan) . I absolutely love my 4.8 even if I paid over the odds for it and took a loss on the 3.0i . BMW dealer part exed the 3.0 for £11K.
