Needs must - selling the crown jewels...
This is a Pilgrim (Porsche 356 replica) Speedster built in 2011 on a reconditioned 1970 Beetle chassis.
Painted in Porsche Condor yellow.
Built carefully and with no expense spared over 3 years, to correct IVA test requirements (passed Aug 11) and registered on an age related 1970 plate. The quality speaks for itself and was recently presented with an award at Stoneleigh.
The chassis was stripped, shortened and prepped using chassis paint. The floor pan has been strengthened professionally by The Speedster Clinic. The chassis is then strengthened using a Pilgrim subchassis. Bodywork sealed. High quality undersealer applied.
All components on the car are new and in particular the following details are listed:
Rebuilt 1641cc air cooled engine using an 'AR' coded engine (stronger basis for increasing capacity), with twin port carbs, new coil and dizzy, fuel pump, custom made stainless steel twin exhaust by Longlife, engine bay chrome work.
New Freeway Flyer gearbox with long 4th for improved motorway cruising speeds - very comfortable at 70mph.
New shocks, brake calipers, steering damper, brake hubs, brake master cylinder, steering box, track rods, bushes, pipes, wiring etc.
HEATED windscreen.
HEATED seats.
Custom made chestnut interior using high quality leather hide.
Stereo amp which runs mp3/usb/mobile phone.
A lot of rework was completed by The Speedster Clinic as some previous work that I was unhappy with needed completing. This included the interior being trimmed, screen, side windows and canvas roof, high quality german box weave carpet, sound insulating, electrical work, post IVA body changes and some repainting.
Xenon headlights
2 Speed wipers
Chrome wheels with new tyres
Full set of chrome/brightwork
Porsche badges from Roger Bray
Porsche hubs caps
Full set of vintage speedster dials
Petri Flat 4 steering wheel and hub from Sierra Madre (US).
Website with full build information - this demonstrates the full build, problems and solutions. A huge folder with receipts and paperwork included with many extras including fitted dust cover:

The car is for sale due to an ongoing health problem (you'll see my X5 also for sale grrr) I am experiencing which is becoming a PITA, and a desire to do something else
If you are seriously interested in buying a head turning classic (you'd better not be shy as this attracts lots of attention and positive comments!), built to a high spec and high standard (with many parts reworked until right!); then please give me a call for further information.
The car is priced to sell at £20,000 and is frankly a bargain, having cost me more than £25k to complete.
