Just got myself an X5

Post by DW35 » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:21 pm

Picked up a 57 plate X5 earlier this week. Managed to find a black one in the spec we wanted but had to sacrifice with it being the higher VED model.

I've not done too many miles in it yet but as you'd expect stepping up from a fiat panda, things are a little different to say the least. And yes, I got some funny responses when asking dealers to px my panda. One even laughed until I hung up!!

Been enjoying the car so far and thought it would be a good idea to fill the tank up to the brim, so £110 later I should have enough petrol to last a month :)

Any pointers or advice on what to keep an eye out on would be appreciated as I'm not sure if the car will suffer too much from the short distances I do.

I've got a disklok and will be modding the OBD soon to make sure it stays in my possession.  Next will be some privacy glass, new bulbs to get rid of the yellow angel eyes and then maybe a remap from bwchiptune.

That is all :)

Sorry didn't know the rules  :P

These were taken on the iphone so are not the best quality

You might be able to spot my Bike chain on the rear wheel I used before the disklok arrived  8)

Why didn't you just keep the Panda and put it in the X boot? Nice car.

Thanks :)

The boots reserved for our bulldog. Plus the wife hated the panda with a passion. Might be something to do with selling her car and to get it in the first place ;)

Thanks... :)

I'm not sure if this is everything as I'm not sure what is and what isn't an 'option' or what the 'option' includes so i'll just reel them off:
- Media pack
- Dynamic pack
- Adaptive drive
- Adaptive headlights & HIDs
- Heated and Ventilated seats
- Comfort and massage seats
- Panoramic sunroof
- 3rd row seating

I think everything else is standard equipment.

Booked in for tints this weekend...just need to decide on how dark to go

Welcome aboard and huge congrats on the step up.

Very nice looking and love the spec tbh. Only missing HUD for me.

Thanks. It's very different to anything I've had before. Considering the most expensive car I've bought is an £8k 106 GTI, and the panda had the highest 'spec', the X5 is a very nice place to be!

Didn't quite know what you meant by HUD at first...It was never something I was looking for but it def would have been the icing on the cake. Seems pretty rare though on all the cars I see.

I have it on my X6 - not a cheap option- and it displays speed, nav, cruise control and current speed limit just below the drivers eyeline so you don't need to look down so much.  Rare because of the price I suppose.

A lot of money for what it is, but I actually like it - and you can turn it off if needs be.  No targeting info for dealing with bad drivers though.... :guns:

Nice...I didn't realised how much info it provided. The wife did like the sound of it but she was so glad we got rid of the panda (the hard ride was doing her back in), she didn't mind in the end.

Maybe I should researched a little more but I think I may have had to wait quite a lot longer to find a car with.

If it had targeting info, I think it would definately have made the 'must have' list  ;)
