Electric folding mirror broken

A few weeks ago my drivers side mirror got hit by a car passing too close in a narrow street
The mirror survived but when folded in started making a grating sound at the end of its travel.
Then a couple of weeks later a piece of curved diecast metal made its way out of the mirror where it folds.
The mirror continued to work fine but still with a grating sound until the other day when it started clunking and banging.
Now it won't fold at all, the mirror apears a bit floppy (1 inch lateral movement) and the passenger side mirror folds in and then out again when the button is pressed.  :'(
I can't hear the motor whirring anymore either.

Knowing how much these things cost I thought I might attempt a repair myself as there is quite a lot of stuff on the net and YouTube showing how.

My question is, has anyone else done it?
Is it easy?

I also found this site offering all the parts. Has anyone used them? Are they expensive as no prices listed?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
