Best deals around

Post by finnie » Fri Jun 15, 2012 2:39 am

HI Guys

I'm 90% sure I'm going to bite the bullit and order a new X5. BMWs first offer seems good with a 5700 discount and an APR of 4.? percent on PCP.

Does anyone know any forum friendly dealers who can beat that.

Also wondering what the lead time is for a new car right now? I would ask the edaler but he is no doubt fed up of my 2 million questions already!

Thanks

Ian

hi mate
i was in the same dilema as you and after a lot of thought I eventually purchased an ex bmw demo with lots of extras fitted as standard,if you go for a ex bmw car these are ofter loaded with options as i found out and i also got the 40d engine and m sport. The problem with depreciation and having to return the car then and have nothing to show for it afterwards is taken care of then.
Have a look at bmw approved used cars ,some of then are ex management cars fully speced out.

I think the lead time is pretty good at present.  Some Dealers have slots already set into the system and can just change the spec to what you want - it's not unusual to do this in under a week.  After that it takes around 6 weeks to get the car shipped from the US to the UK via Bremerhaven.

I'd aim for a minimum of 12% discount (incl VAT) for cash.

I wanted to order a nearly new, but couldn't find one with Adaptive Cruise .. so ordered new. Took 3 months, of which half was the transportation/prep. This was last year.

I'm surprised just how many new X5's I'm seeing. Still seems to be the most popular of the large SUV's .. or VW/Porsche are still throttling demand.

That's coz it's the best :))

Mind you, if the popularity does go up then so will the lead times.  Hopefully nowhere near what it was in 2004 when the lead time for a new RHD diesel X5 was 10-14 months.  Mine was ordered in May 04 and delivered 1st March 05.  UK spec cars were 'special orders' and made in batches unlike today when anything goes down the line in any order.

My neighbour has a blinged out Cayenne diesel. I don't regret buying the X5 .. the electronics in the Porsche are dated (nothing similar to Connected Drive, or DAB) .. it's noisier than the X5 (even on 20") .. and the interior rattles!

Well I'm in no hurry really. I'm offshore right now but back next week and will call in to the dealer to have a chat. Looked online and can see some "nearly" cars on the used car section of BMW site but there aren't many cars with tow bar, third row seating, adaptive headlights pro sound etc but there are some nearly cars going for around 45 ish. So if I can finad a good nearly car then I can just go for it.

I'll see what the dealer comes up with. I'm visiting him last week of the month so maybe I can push a good deal. Still have to convince the wife though!

I wouldn't go PCP through BMW.    I did this through Mercedes for my last car.  I saved around 100 GBP per month by going through another well known finance company.
