Insurance Renewal Due - Yikes !!

Had a proper fright when the renewal policy stuff came through, it has gone up 200 sheets !
I went with Sureterm last year as 'recommended' on the former forum site, only to be seen off big style. Last years insurer declined to re-quote and so they sent me another back street wannabe outfit at a 50% increase.
If this is anything like the mortgage insurance renewal we are paying for other peoples claims, whereas we haven't claimed on the car policy for over ten years.
Despicable treatment and now forced to go with the lowest on a well known comparison site, by price rather than choice.
Anyone else finding the same or similar?

Just for the record I would like to formerly disassociate myself with any businesses linked to or associated with the old site. Pvr & myself as moderators were never consulted re any sponsored links & as such I would be unhappy to associate myself with anything that represented bad value to members.
I am aware we have google ads on the top of this site. Just as ITV uses commercials to help fund this site is supported to some extent via Ads. That said I hope that folk are sensible enought to make their own decisions as to what they click on & ultimately as to what products or service they buy.
On the old site I believe that a certain insurer paid the site owner to have a sponsored section of the board - my personal view is that as part of the admin team I would be reluctant to facilitate sub forum sponsoring unless I felt it would offer genuine benefits to members &/or thge overall membership.
Really keen not to discuss the old site further here - I think most know there were a few aspects beyond our control that myself & pvr were unhappy with.
Back to the insurance quote - as well as the comparison sites try to also look at underwriters &/or firms that dont use comparison sites.

Just renewed at £735 Fully Comp for me (26) and missus (24), street parking (I live in a dodgy neighbourhood). I was happy enough with that. That was with Bell who are owned by Admiral I think.

It all depends on location, age, where its kept overnight etc etc no ones policy is the same so the prices will vary a lot!

As far a insurance renewals go, I have never accepted one. I always go to several comparison sites to get a bench mark and work from there. I also get an online quote from my current Ins. company and this has always been cheaper than the renewal, partly due to online discounts but also often to attrack new business. For the last 4 years LV (Liverpool Victoria) have been our insurer for both our cars and now house insurance as well they offer multi product discount however each policy retains their own NCD unlike some other multi car products. I'm paying just over £300 inc. fully comp European cover for the 520d about £160 cheaper than it was for the V8 albeit this included full Euro breakdown cover about £60ish from memory. LV have always price matched other made the policy cheaper after a phone call to them. Its a shame you have to go to all this effort and that they just don't issue a renewal for the right price but there are savings to be had if you put in the effort. At the time of owning the V8 LV did not require a tracker, this may be area based as I have heard that they now require one. Still worth a shot IMO as they have very good customer service.
Good luck.
