3rd party Comms packs (SAT NAV) etc

Anyone had these fitted to their X's?
Trying to buy a X5 as per other thread but a lot (in my budget) don't have the Comms packs.
Are the 3rd party ones, (on eBay for example), any good? Or the BMW significantly better.
