I always felt the engine cover let it down.....needed more 'Alfa' style to show off that wonderful V8

Interestingly I didn't miss it when it went but have fond memories now.

The engine covers don't improve with time though.....
And here's a mileage to be pleased about.....and probably an mpg a 4.8is owner would beg for...

I had it a year, put 30,000 miles on it - £12000 in fuel and thought wtf am I doing
, it's really not worth that much gas.
Sold it for £13000 (or so) less than I paid for it
bearing in mind it was a 7 month old £64k car when I bought it and I paid mid £40's (it was an ex management BMW car)
Those were the days

@ Raj and Cannondale, both lovely cars
I miss the sound and the look of the car, but the gearbox was shite, the fuel consumption dire and to be honest my previous mapped 3.0D seemed as quick.

Great pics and good memories.
Still love the E53 shapes, one of the few that have aged very well.

Cheers.
Agree with your comments about fuel consumption though but luckily I don't use it as much as you used yours. 30k miles in one year is crazy. No wonder a move to a D was needed.

101k.......how much is that likely to be in fuel? Something very scary I don't doubt.

Well, the cost is over £1 a mile so that makes it about £100k

That must be all running costs not just fuel surely? But even so.....ouch. I wouldn't want to be doing 30k a year at today's petrol prices. I thought the 18k in year one with the E53 was bad enough, and I was paid for a lot of the miles.
Not having to commute 60 miles a day makes a big difference to the budgets.
