bmw 1.4.0 questions

hi since getting my car back from the bodyshop where it was stood for 4 weeks, the gearbox is a little jerky and ive also gained self levelsus inact, i had even more warning light but they went within hours, it has been totally flat and jump started, anyway ive scanned it but can i do a reset adaptations and also look into if there is a level sensor at fault as all is fine with that, i could do it with my bmw dis software but i dont have easy acces to the laptop with that on at the mo, thanks

Hi,

When i bought my X5 (E53) a few months ago i also found the gearbox really jerky. I read that you could reset the gearbox "learning" by turning the ignition on (not starting the car) and pressing the accelerator for 30 seconds. have a search on the forum and you should find the correct procedure.

this didn't do anything for me though. In the end I took the car to Jason at BW Tuning and he updated the engine and gearbox software and things are much better now. I think he charged me £95 + vat.

Lol, was gonna post then saw your link, link to my post... Short-term fix only.

But worth a go for free since you never experienced the prob prior to storage.

i tried this, but will check as i might have done it wrong, i will mebe try and get my old laptop with the dis program as you can do a complete gearbox reset with it! :D
