Always good to receive feedback on pricing, though I have already had three consistent offers from dealers for the car as a trade in. This pricing appears fair. As I noted in my advert, I'm keen for the car to go to a good home and not just be wasted as dealer stock.

I didn't mean to be nasty just what I've seen a lot of petrols go for since looking for one for a friend including a lot of 03 4.6is for less money, what you have to remember is that you can't just go by dealer trade in values as these may be over inflated to look good to you as it will depend on how expensive the car is you trade in against and the profit margin they have to play with on the other car!

I actually thought it was quite good value, if everything is up together and the wheels/tyres etc are all as described, plus the warranty package/ mileage etc etc then as long as the colour is your cup of tea you could do a lot worse.
I 've seen a few of these low priced cars, and believe me, by the time you have spent money on them getting all the jobs done, and maybe a couple of tyres, then the the price probably reflects this, and don't forget, you can't do anything about high miles or missed servicing etc, which a lot of the lower priced sheds out there have.
As said, if it's your sort of colour then well worth a look.
God luck.

@weirdfish, the approach you have outlined is exactly the same as mine when I was looking to buy an X5. I saw some real dogs and a lot of them were quite expensive. I wasn't looking for this colour, however the warranty, new tyres and full service history (and to a lesser extent the equipment and body kit that make the car quite unique) made the car quite compelling.
For anyone that is interested in the car, I am realistic and will accept sensible offers. Please send me a PM.

I think it seems a good starting point as well. Would of thought it might finish around the 6k mark though. I think the current economy is throwing the prices all over the price i.e some people are desperate to sell and letting some cars go for silly money. petrol costs aren't helping either.
I just paid 4k for a mint 2001 4.4i with 90k on the clock.

Being new to this i apply the same sort of logic to get the best car for my money and i think I this car looks good and nice spec on it. There are a lot out there for a lot more not as good from dealers. Some they say as immaculate were poor looked at prob 20 cars -probably fussy but i think it's my money and have to work for it.
Personally if you find a car that meets your standard condition spec etc then at that point can negotiate price as i believe its a buyers market with these as shadrack said. You can always make an offer and gauge reaction and let them think about it as you have the cash and the car will only ever reduce in value.
I nearly bought a 4.8i which was badly reprinted and had lots of faults air susp lights window but roof worked fine the only car i saw that did but low mileage but my heart ruling head for 14k, that could have been a disaster in hindsight.
However I ended up with a 4.4i in black on 54 plate for 8.5k a less spec'd car no pan roof or 4.8 bodykit but with good miles and then got sorted at local bmw indy and have added 4.8 wheels and bits but I went in with eyes wide open and my wallet-lol but now have a car that's getting there, but it's all down to what you want but there are some nice cars out there so worth taking time

For anyone who may be interested, I have reduced the price for a quick sale. The car will be traded in next week if it doesn't sell quickly.

Private sale in the end - got more than the dealer was offering p/x so I'm happy.

Good to here you got a private sale. It is one thing that was a concern when I went to the V8 that the resale would be harder than a Derv. But it seems as though good ones will always be in demand

I was certainly surprised with how much interest I had. The doom and gloom tactics of the dealers with their attempts to force the price down are really not needed and just leave a bit of a bad taste.
Still, I'm happy with the deals that I managed to do, old car and new. Now for a bit of Volvo ownership, XC60 here I come.
Will miss the V8 rumble and all the toys

Be interested how you find the Xc60, I had one for 6months but it was not upto replacing my previous Q7. But that's my opinion, good luck with your new car, the auto braking is so weird. Try it before you leave the dealers, mine had a polystyrene wall to test with, just so alien to drive towards something without braking....! Never tried it in the real world though, but that little voice in my head egged me in a few times to try it...!
