Dont know if I have got this right but apparently there were only 2 4.8is registered in 2005! And I have one of them
Had a nice late drive on the (for the minute) quiet roads of cornwall last night, this thing is incredible, handling and pace for such a large vehicle defy logic

Changing the search to X5is Auto (why they should be differently recorded I can't say) but that shows 846 in 2005 with 771 still kicenced at the end of 2011. Was the 4.6 also known as the 'is' before the facelifted engine became a 4.8? Given there were 12,000 E53 Diesels in the same year - if the figures are to be believed..
It's still a rare breed though (Roughly similar to the X6 40d in the current numbers). Definitely one to be enjoyed whenever you can though....it's that sheer on-road ability that made me order mine, though with the mileage I was then doing coupled with the then extra £10k for the V8 over the I6 Diesel, I could only afford the diesel......enjoy it...
There are only 48 X5 xDrive 50i on the register......that must be fuel cost related....

thought 2 was a bit low but that just means that there are 847 other very happy but fuel short people on the planet excuding the ones that threw them over hedges etc.

Just tried it with x5 4.8is auto and clicked on new registrations at the top to show that year and still get 2, not talking about how many were taxed/sorn in the year of 2005 but how many new ones were registered in 2005.

Probably only from the manufacturers sales figures. All I can find for BMW about X5's was that in 2005 a total of 10,804 we're sold in the UK, which tends to cast some doubt on the Howmanyleft data. The figures aren't broken down by model/version. The total built for 2005 was 101,537.
Geek or what

Hi, i have a BMW x5 2005 e53 4.8is, best car I've ever owned. Spent a lot of time and money on it, lpg gas conversion, new instrument cluster, tyres, rear lights, new head unit. Etc etc
