Any fault codes? Get it to an Indy for proper diagnosis. Guessing and changing out parts until issues are solved get expensive.

Mine doesn't lose any oil or water. 3.0d 54 plate.
Could be as simple as a leak dripping onto exhaust or could be as bad as piston rings. You really need to let someone take a look.

Its been to bmw a few times and other garage's but it never doe's it there and they say all is fine, its got to be something, like turbo leaking oil when standing maybe that's why its there when you start firts drive, after that is fine all day and next day. then it come's back now and a again.

Just for your ref, BMW have said that you can expect to use up to 1 litre every 2,000 miles or so. Mine used oil when it was new but as the miles went on the oil consumption dropped away to nothing. Some continue to use oil. Yours is one that like mine stopped using it.

The X6 uses none (so far) as the emissions controls are tighter now.

interesting. i thought as engines wear out they start to burn more oil. although yeah they would need to settle in first and before settling in they prob burn oil too.

Have you checked your engine breather filter? might be getting blocked up and forcing oil through turbo? ive had same problem, just mine went all of a sudden!

How do you check the vortex style one? I pulled mine out the other week (oo-err) and it looked clean enough but how can you test if it is actually clean inside? I couldn't work out how it actually works (although I only spent a couple of minutes looking).

mine didnt have the vortex style fitted, just had the standard foam type, but it was blocked solid, unfortunatly the damage was done, turbo recon, clean intercooler, im still on with it now, but i think the intake manifold may be damaged now because im still getting white oily smelling smoke, need to get it off and check.
