Re: LED angel eye question
LED angel eyes came in with the LCI model. The only way you can add them is to change the complete lamp unit. Whether the LCI Lamp Unit is the same shape and is a straight swap I don't know. You will be looking at serious money though!
There are LED angel eye bulbs that replace the H8 bulb in the car, but none will give you the same effect and brightness as the OEM version.

Yes, angle eye H8's have nothing to do with the main beam/full beam light. Someone must have done it on here so will hopefully share their knowledge with you

Re: LED angel eye question
Something like this might be the sort of thing you would be looking for.
You might need to add the error cancelling resistors as I don't know if these bulbs are included in the bulb check system - you might get a bulb out warning - although there are other kits available which include error cancelling components. These don't make mention of such, but it will give you an idea anyway.

Re: LED angel eye question
This is what i mean, this is the lux applications and it says e70( with xenon). Im guessing you need xenon lights main beam to fit these to your angel eyes??

Re: LED angel eye question
EDIT: Your car is fitted with an H1 lamp rather than the required H8, hence not compatible. HIDs are fitted with H8 bulbs in the same place.
See this page on Realoem. Items 10 & 12 are the ones. If you want to find your specific vehicle put the last 7 characters of your VIN into the box that says Serial Number here: Realoem, or follow this thread on our site - Denis O's entry will get you to the ETK System and you can look up your own car.
A word of caution if you are going down the road of spending several hundred pounds is that none of these conversions are bright in daylight, some are barely visible. The Lux V3 is amongst the brightest but it is still a long way below the OEM system which has a ring of LEDs rather than a 'point source'.

Re: LED angel eye question
So can i not upgrade the H1 lamp to led then for the angel eyes?
Re: LED angel eye question
Yes, if you can find one.
There's a couple of options here. Second one down looks to be the brightest one. No idea if they're any good, or if they need error cancelling resistors. But at least you know there are replacements are out there...

Re: LED angel eye question
Thanks a lot for your help. Can i just ask if anyone has done this at all?
Re: LED angel eye question
Im having a real problem with this. My issue id that i am looking for LED angel eyes for standard halogen headlights( which requires a different bulb than the H8). Its not a H1 bulb and ive done some research and cant come to a conclusion to what type of bulb is required.
The headlight unit needs to come out so if anyone can tell me how to do this i will strip it out and get a good look at it.
Thanks

Re: LED angel eye question
Have a look at Realoem and put the last 7 characters of the VIN into the 'Serial Number' box. That will then bring up your car. Switch to Images Drill Down mode and look in the lighting section. Is there no code on the bulb itself? I may have got the model wrong, but it certainly seems to point at an H1 as the type fitted, so if it isn't then I wonder what they have used. Only an H1 (non-Xenon) and H8 (Xenon) are referred to...
The Angel eye lamp is under the middle round cover - Item 2 (or the one nearest the centre of the car). The Low Beam is (or at least should be) an H7 according to the parts list.

Re: LED angel eye question
Realoem is no use. It diesnt show the actual bulb that lights the angel eyes. I can see a small part of the bulb through the lens when i turn the angel eyes on, its behind a small box with 3 screws in it (thats the one i need). The low beamis indeed a H7. If i can get the light out i will do it and have a good look but its 100% not a H1 bulb.
Thanks for the help

Re: LED angel eye question
Gotcha - yeah it is indeed a strange part inside some kind of cover behind that rectangular main cover. Item 6 - and only listed as a kit for the parking light? I take it you've tried removing that cover? It will certainly save you having to remove the complete light unit. It might be a BMW Special part rather than a standard - 'H' type - which is annoying!
Also found these references: Application: 194 type (replaces stock 2827 Bulb) for E70 Parking Light. Or possibly W5W 501 T10 Type

Re: LED angel eye question
I will have to remove the complete headlight to get into the three screws. Its funny i actually came across that link when i was searching. Some people were saying that it could only be a w5w T10 wedge bulb thats in there which would be great. Its just getting into it!!
Do you have a tutorial or pdf of the headlight removal at all?
