80k service and new air filter?

Post by jeegnesh » Thu Apr 05, 2012 11:23 am

Just hit 80k still have one green light but service time is not too far down the road, a few questions:-

1 - I plan to replace the air filter (myself or with my trusty sidekick :D ) is there any benefit using a so called performance one? I do not and am not looking for more power or anything like that, just mean is it better for the car. Was thinking of http://www.pipercrossonline.co.uk/piper ... -566-p.asp as its reasonably priced too.

2 - What all parts are required for 80k service, I use an Indy and he allows supplying of all parts, already have the oil, just wondered if there are other parts that I could buy and save for extra ££'s (euro car parts have code EASTER25 for 25% off all car parts)

3 - At 80k mark is there anything in particular worth replacing over the normal bits?

The car?...... :fuelfire:

Seriously though, I've seen debates both for and against these 'performance air filters' as some work well, whilst others get gunged up because they have to be sprayed with oil and have to checked frequently, and more that promise the earth but don't really deliver.

This might help with the 'what to look at.....'

Funny was thinking the same thing, but there nothing really wrong with it, and I don't fancy spending an extra 20k to get something I would like, so just going to have to service the bugger :-)

Sounds like I am safer sticking with the OEM filter

If you haven't already got one, a 'vortex' type breather would be good to do. You'll have the covers off to do the air filter so you might as well change the other bits too.

Items 11, 12 and 13 here: yours being a 2005 should have them already, but a number of us (self-included found we had the older foam one which gives rise to issues when it blocks. My Dealer carried it as stock parts.

Parts

There's a 'How to' on here too (with piccies). viewtopic.php?f=22&t=689

Does fuel filter need to be done?

If I had the fuel pump replaced, would the fuel filter have been done.

May not be the right one - looking at the other thread.
