Uploading pics is here.

And yes, it's not an 'M' but it's your car and you do as you wish!

I was tempted to put an Xdrive badge ala e70 on my e53 facelift

Nooooooooooooo

I have a real M and I really don't like M badges on a non M.

But it is your car of course so all IMO.

No, I was talking about my real M, not the m sport X5 ...

M Sport is just a fancy trim, like our E46 330Cd 'M Sport' Convertible. About £20k cheaper than a real M3, and a lot cheaper to run. It just has an 'M' Badge on the steering wheel (but not the coloured stitching), gear knob and door entry kick plates.

As the man said, it's your car, and those who know their BMWs will know it's not a real 'M'. No harm in the badge though.

It's certainly more valid than a M badge on the back of a 316 with a drainpipe exhaust and skinny tyres - now that really is wrong.

It's your car and you can do what you like with it.
Personally I think it looks good

It's always a personal preference. Some like it and others don't.

Me personally do not like it. I've owned a number of ///M sport model BMW's but have never had the badges on the exterior because as pvr mentioned it is not a true ///M car. The only car I have owned which kept the badge was the ///M5 but only because it was a true ///M division car and not just a sport model.

But then thats what sets our individual cars apart from each other. Your call at the end of the day.

My view personally no, as even my m3 didn't have a grill badge but some might hate what I've done to my x5, if everyone conformed to the same we would all be driving a focus diesel like the other half of the population that have no interest in cars, I say if y like it who cares what anyone else thinks!!

Nope, only "M" cars have "M" badges, it is like putting a "Turbo" sticker on a Mk1 Fiesta 1ltr L. :))
