strange wobbley thing

Post by shadrack » Mon Mar 19, 2012 7:24 am

Sooo last nite I was heading into town, doing bout 60 when the x5 started feeling strange from the drivers side front to the point where I was like s**t must have a puncture so slowed right down got out and apeared fine, so I checked wheel nuts-tight so I was puzzled, then I got there went to garage and had 20 psi in one and 30 in other, so still felt funny, so I jacked her up to see if wheel bearing had play in (nealy lost wheel off my old x5 cos of that) that was fine, only things I had was a wheel weight seemed to be missing and I had pressure washed the backs of them off few hours before and I had tyre shine all over he tyre. Got up drove to work today and seems fine!! So now I'm puzzled!

It could a wonderful thing called harmonics. Low pressure plus missing wheel weight and in a particular position relative to the other wheels could cause a wobble.

Pump up the tyre, change the positions and it all goes away again. Or you may not have lost a weight after all - or have now lost one from each side so they're cancelling each other out.. :)

On the other hand, the snoozing cat that was in the wheel may now have recovered and gone home.. :dizzy:

Very odd about the wobble I would get the wheel checked and poss rebaIanced just in case.

However, I never realised the cat was an optional extra on the x5 but I had heard it was an options with jaguars. Sorry for the pun.
