new x5 owner

hi need some advice whats the phone adaptor thing in the central glovebox for on an 2011 x5,should i have had a jack in the car,ive got runflats fitted,and what does the voice control button on the steering wheel actually control,only had the car a few days so still learning,many thanks for the help anyone

Phone adapter will be for you to add the appropriate 'snap in adapter' for your phone type - if supported. I have the iPhone 4 one in mine - £71 from BMW. It will charge the phone and connect it to the 'sharkfin' roof antenna. Depends upon what options you have installed and what phone you have as to what else it can do.
No jack fitted with runflat equipped cars. You can buy a kit though, and a slim spare for the non-7 seat version.
Voice control button switches the system on and you speak your command. It does lots of things. You need to read the manual to cover all of it. 20-pages of commands in there. I've given up tying to remember everything, but it's a good toy if you get the hang of it.

I've had my X6 40d for nearly 18 months, and I'm still finding things too.
