Goodbye to the X5 and hello van :(

Post by x5south » Thu Mar 08, 2012 7:13 pm

Just wanted to say many thanks to all that have helped out with issues over the last couple of years. I owned a 52 plate 3.0i and overall the car was great. I sold the car over a week ago and still seem to find myself visiting the site daily.

I was made redundant during last year and have decided to change industries completely and invest in a new business venture. Bookings are coming in now and it was time to bite the bullet and sell the x and buy a van. I have now started a Hog roast and BBQ service called The Hogs Breath.http://www.thehogsbreath.co.uk I am based in Hampshire close to the Surrey border.

I think the best way to describe the X towards the end of ownership was that it was getting tired. It still drove well, it was just the fact that the door being shut was noisy, the window going up was noisy etc etc. Nothing major although I was a little concerned something was just around the corner. You must put things in to perspective and the car is 10 years old, it will have issues and it is something that I learnt to deal with. I decided it was best to get the problems sorted as soon as possible, as when they add up you can end up with a scary bill.

Overall the X was great if not a little juicy :)

With things going well I will be looking to own a newer E70 at some point soon.

Good luck with the cars everyone, I hope you have many trouble free miles of motoring.

It's a new venture, easing in gently - this time next year Rodney...!

THEN we'll go for the Phantom, one year of slumming it in the Bentley I'm sure he can put up with (try, I know it'll be tough)!

What about the silverstone meet would it be an option to have a hog roast there?

Thanks for the good luck messages. If a Hog Roast is required for any meet I will be happy to do one...The good part.... i'd do my best to do it as near to cost as is possible :) There is always an option for half a pig which would feed up to 50 people max.

Thanks again and all the best, Stew.
