Hi,

I'm going to be servicing my E53 3.0D at some point in March (weather permitting) and I was wondering if anyone knows who makes the oem air, oil, pollen and fuel filters for BMW? Mahle, Mann, Hengst?

Anyone know for sure?

Cheers,

~Shaun.

Service parts are not too bad from main dealers if you want to stay with oem. Other than that any of the makes you have listed are good.
Link below for oem manufactured parts.

I've seen reference to both Mahle and Mann as OEM suppliers so I suspect it's going to be a mix depending upon who can meet the performance, price point and production rate BMW want. It's not unknown for manufacturers to be placed under non-disclosure arrangements so finding hard data is challenging at times - as you've no doubt found out. And all of it no doubt designed to stop people like us who want to DIY from going to places other than the dealers for our parts!!

You can get 'Service Packs' from Dealers which contain all the needed bits in a box for a lower price. I keep seeing these kits referred to on RealOEM, but whether your local dealer stocks them I don't know.

I'm gonna be getting my service parts from eurocarparts using the 25% discount code. I choose good quality parts and never had any issues

I do the same once the service packs expire. Never skimped on service parts.

Thanks for the replies folks..

Well after a little digging around it looks like I can get a BMW service pack from a $tealer in the UK for 120 euros including delivery.
It's actually cheaper for me to buy parts from a $tealer in the UK and ship it to Ireland than it is to go into my local $tealer here and buy one!!

OR

I can go to my local GSF and get the set of filters for 70 euros, Not sure of the exact makes but one of Hrngst, Mann, Mahle...

So that's a difference of 50 euros = The cost of half the oil I'm gonna need for the service....

I think I'll be paying GSF a visit!

Good plan.... Keep you eyes open for deals on oil from halfords. They did a deal a few months ago for castrol edge fully synth for £17.50 for a 4litre can, I got 2, so £35 for 8litres...I believe it takes 7.5l to do an oil change.

Well a quick update:

I went to GSF and picked up the filters and did the service this weekend. As it happens the last service I did was with genuine BMW parts and when I took the air filter off it had the bmw logo and also the Mann logo, so that's the original question answered.

As for the oil, Halfords and motor factors were selling Castrol Edge 5W 30 for roughly 12 euros a litre, but I managed to get it for 8 euros a litre!!! Result! mind you I did have to buy 20 litres but hey it's an investment and I don't see the price of oil falling through the floor any time soon either unfortunately :(

Cheers,

~S.
