Hi fellow beemer owners,
Just taken delivery (about 2 weeks ago) of a 2006 X5 3.0d Sport with satnav & comms pack to replace my Lexus RX 300.
Wife has a 118i as well.
We have looked at BM's many times before but always bought summat else so in the space of 18 months we've ended up with 2!
I'll probably end up reading on here a lot but not posting so i'll say thanks in advance for all the info you guys give, i've been impressed so far.
See you all out there,
Cheers, Marty.

Hi Marty

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on the new purchase!

Get some pics up and let us know options fitted etc. How do you think it stacks up so far against the Lexus or have you not had chance to play with it much?

The guys on here have some great advice so you should be into modding it in no time :-)

Welcome indeed.

Uh ... there are some girls on the forum that seem to be rather handy with the Ressler as well though 8-)

Welcome aboard.

I used owned a 2003 Toyota RAV4 from new & whilst I appreciate it's not a BMW it was a fault free ownership experience. Some may chuckle at the thought of RAV$ ownership but for those who laugh I can give an assurance that that car was supremely capable in the bends for a 4x4 & vastly superior to say a CRV of the same period. I would be confident that if in my old RAV4 on twisty B roads I could at least hold my own against most X5's.

Toyota discussion leads me nicely to Toyota owned Lexus brand & specifically yout prior owned RX300. Would be interested at some point in future if you were to post a mini review of the RX300 & maybe specifically comapring it to the X5.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys.
A very friendly bunch.
I'll attempt a few piccies & a mini review of the Lexus in the near future.

Under which topic would i post my thoughts on the Lexus?

As for spending my money i don't think i need TOO much help - seem pretty good at that already ;)
I think in the short time i've had the BM my thoughts are getting privacy glass in the rear (standard in the Lexus!), folding mirrors would be good (guess what you guessed it, standard in the Lexus!!), car has to go back to dealer for a couple of faults so i'm gonna try to get them to program keys (autolock etc) & already liking what i'm reading about remaps (how would this change my MPG?). Oh yeah & although i have the comms pack the AUX socket in the rear doesn't play i-pod (there's no AUX setting on the stereo) so i'm gonna have to investigate that too.

Enough ramblings for now.
Cheers,
Marty.

Topic - try General disscussion or off-topic.

Jason at BWChiptune does a lot of forum remaps at a discount and can give you a remap of your choice, medium for more power but better mpg or just MORE POWER! 5hep has that option, PM him for an opinion or ask Jeegnesh on the medium option (diesel), alfmale (4.4), leztaylor (4.4), bullethead (4.6is) - taht's all I can remember...

For the iPod - try Intravention.co.uk or Intravee as a search (on here) - shed loads...

Cool, thanks Sanj.
Always the same when you get a new car - it looks fully loaded in the showroom but when you get it home there's always more out there!!!!
I'll do some trawling through the older stuff on here & let you guys know where i'm gonna go.
Cheers,
Marty.
