Anything I can do to get my seatbelts to retract a bit more efficiently ?
They are so slow to return when I take it off,.. having to reach round and more or less 'feed' it back into the anchor point.
Both driver and passenger are the same condition .

Mine are just as slow. At some stage I intend to extend them fully, wash them throughly, dry then use furniture polish or similar to reduce friction. I understand this is a relatively common complaint on the E53.

I've read about removing the pillar covering the seatbelt mechanism to check they're not twisted but I don't trust my ability to not damage the panel doing this.

Pull belt out to full extent and spray a silicon lubricate spray down the back of the pillar. Probably need a straw on the can

Exactly the very best way, i pulled the belt right out and sprayed it top and bottom, perfect result (silicone spray ex ebay).

I have the same problem.......now I have the solution.....we'll put it on my to-do list

Its great when done they work like brand new and no mess, lasts about 6 months at least also

I have the same problem with the front belts and the back belts dont pull out at all!

So just for my benefit and before I going spraying silicone all over the place which exact part do I spray the silicone on/in? Is it just on the reels? I presumme you dont mean the actual belt? Do you

Also with regards to the spray - will the 3 in 1 silicone spray work (kind of like WD40 but silicone) or does it have to be a special silicone?

Blimey sorry for all the questions but I just want to confirm before I get carried away with the spray. Last time I used a can of spray was to try and fix my rear stuck pana sunroof and it went everywhere but fixed sod all

I spray the actual belts, if you open the doors and pull out the belts i just spray all the belt, both sides then let it go. In seconds it soaks in and job jobbed no residue or slimey stuff, its amazing.

Rear belts not moving at all? Sounds like the back seats have been put down at some point and then put back up too gently. Release the seats and give them a good hard shove to put them back again so it releases the mechanism inside the seat.

I wouldn't spray the belt to be honest as I dont like greasy marks on my clothes, get a can of silicon spray with a straw on it and stick it down the seat belt recess so it goes onto the mechanism then pull let the seat belt in and out a few times to work it in

As i said above you get no marks at all the stuff just goes, the greasy mark comment is wrong it doesnt happen, but each to there own just wanted the facts to be correct here.

I might take trim off tomorrow and give mine a good clean up

If you're thinking of doing it with the trim removed then this may be helpful.
