I emailed longlife in Thornbury and they replied;
Hello Mark,
Thanks for the opportunity!
LONGLIFE STAINLESS STEEL TWIN BACK BOXES (WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY) for your BMW X5 3.0L D (2004/05) WOULD be:
£329 including fitting & VAT*
After Feb 29 price rises to £379 (!)
Cannot be combined with any other discount.
* The £290 price was a one-time offer so we could cost the job internally.
We have moved to the Thornbury Industrial Estate. Please note our new address and phone number:
16B Walker Way
Thornbury, Bristol BS35 3US
01454 501439
I informed them that they had carried out a couple of fittments at the circa £290 mark but not sure if you guys paid VAT on top of this.
Not sure if im going to bother now as I'm not a fan of "get it now before the price goes up" gag!

Hi Mark,
appears i started something here, i am in purchasing for a living so always looking and getting an angle.
When i bought mine, and then Steve afterwards getting the same price i was very pleased as the only other choice i had from memory was Essex @ £299 or Brum @ £367 i think it was.
The guy your talking to is a Yank in America (hence the pushy sales tactics) whom married an English Lady then moved out there so all emails come from accross the pond.
He firstly offered me the higher price which i thought about but then they went quiet and he offered me a sliding scale of prices based on fitting the very next day, then getting dearer the longer the booking time was away etc.I was going on holiday at that time but to be fair he kept the lower price for me as they still were not that busy.
Steve then came along and as it was so close to mine it must have been difficult to say no, now however they dont perhaps need/want to.
Another £39.00 and its a 2012 price i dont think is unfair, they do do a fine job and unless your prepared to travel or find another source there isnt much choice about.
The price i paid which i cant remember but is on my original post DID include VAT.
Anyway hope my essay helps, happy to talk if needed.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul. Thanks for the info.
I didnt mind the price increase but love a bargin which I think £290 is
What I cant stand is the old " Everest doube glazing sales pitch" in which the price goes up the longer you wait
I think I will wait and see if he gets back to me and hits me with his sliding scale - worth a wait as I'm in no rush
Cherrs Paul

Thats a good plan.
When he quoted me it was about 3 weeks later the scale came which turned out to be cobblers as i got the next day price despite getting the fitting done about three weeks later.
He is scared of losing business so quote the ebay item number for £299.00 and say you are tempted to go there (he may call your bluff here) unless he can tweek his price and remind him its the third vehicle from this forum and there could be more wink wink.
