Microfilter replacment

Called with dealer to arrange the oil service my Idrive is calling for, car is a 2008 3.0sd X5. They also say I need microfilter.

How often is this meant to be replaced?
Does it need replaced?
They quote Â£110 for the job, seems quite steep, is it possible to buy the part myself and is it an easy DIY? Would this be a lot cheaper?
If I decide not to replace it, is this likely to be a problem.
Doesn't seem to show as an option in the service menu in Idrive, will it therefore not really matter whether I replace or not.

Not being miserable and if it needs it done then fine but given I have 4 tyres to buy and also brakes front and rear needing done in 2000 miles I don't want to throw away my cash.

Will let the dealer do the oil change to keep the book stamped.

Thanks for the Ebay link, will this be the right part for my 2008 3.0sd?
Is it just a matter of popping over a cover to fit?

I assume there is no warnings on Idrive after replacing or any issues?

your just have to reset the micro filter bit under the service menu. As mentioned oil is easy enough to do as well depneds how fussy you are about a stamp

i don't think it's in the idrive
but it is programmed within the key

does bmw ones used are they carbon activated?
looking at the options on this

The activated charcoal ones are the standard fit for cars with climate control rather than just air con. All mine have been activated charcoal when I've removed & changed them.

Apparently for those with hay fever etc, the charcoal versions are better. Not being a sufferer I can't confirm it.

Now sub £13 thats value for money for 2 carbon activated filters

I've used Crosland before with no trouble. Second choice would be MANN but the discounts are not so good.

Cheaper without the BBQ dust on them, but I still have charcoal ones in mine.

I've heard of mixed reviews on croslands
Euro car part own parts with some miss match quality

Mann is probably better as oem spec
