Rear tail gate problem.

Hi all. I got home from work tonight and went to open the rear tailgate and it would not open. I can open it with the key or with the button inside the car but when you go to press the button on the tailgate there is nothing. Any ideas to what this could be?? Thanks Wayne

The micro switches in the tailgate button are known to give up after a while. If u search here you'll find a few threads about it.

Is the micro switch easy to replace or do you have to change the complete lock. Also how much dos it cost.????

If you don't want to fix it and want a brand new unit, I have one for £70. I bought it to fix a problem on my E53 but it turned out to be unrelated,

Does anyone know if the facelift rear handle/switch fits the pre-facelift?
