Video of TV problem...

Post by UrbanFlow » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:57 pm

I posted about this problem a few months ago and several people thought upgrading to a digital tuner might be the solution, but I'm hoping someone might watch this and say "oh no... you just do A, B and C and it'll be fine"!

Anyway, long and short of it is - everything works fine - I can get a TV picture but the sound is just one long pitched wail.

Any ideas? Or do I need to start spending again?!

Ouch! Keep your volumes down, that's a great wake up tone. :D

Not good. Apart from checking all the plugs are in, I suspect that one may need some work. The tone came up instantly and before the image.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Try adjusting the sound settings.

Mine did this once, when the bass was set quite high.

Decreasing the bass, stopped the noise.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I'm going to investigate the module again in the boot this weekend too.

UPDATE:

So I fiddled with the BASS and Treble settings whilst in radio mode and found a bizarre anomally - Treble works fine, but If I set BASS below the halfway marker I get the same horrible high pitch wail I get in Television mode (as in Video above).

So I'm starting to think the problem is more to do with the amp...?

Any thoughts peeps?

that sounds like feedback, is there a mic coming into play in whatever you've done?

Only mic in car would be the bluetooth comms pack for the telephone - which works fine, no feedback when using that.

UPDATE ON THIS PROBLEM

My whole area is digital now - weirdly I can still get a perfect TV picture for every channel in the X5 - but still the high pitched squeal.

ALSO...

Just discovered that I can only get FM radio stations.
All my AM and long wave stations just squeal like the TV.
Tried to tune into 5 live sport for the grand prix and got SQUEALLLLLLLLLLLL!

Time to buy a new unit?

I had issues with no AM and FM - a new amplifier courtesy of my AUC warranty has sorted that so that may be where your problem is.
