I used to walk my dog around there and remember thinking that was a nice car, particularly with the parallel wheel upgrade

Why did you change it

I prefer my old 535d to this X5!

Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course. I'd had the E39 a few years, modded it as far as i wanted to go and always fancied an X5 as the grown up version of the E39 Touring, so bought one. I had both for about a week and so nearly reneged on the E39 sale. I sometimes wish i had. An E39 Touring appeals all over again now the X5 itch is scratched.

Had a few E60's as loners along the way, and few other modern BMW's and don't like the edgy Bangle-esque designs over the more contoured E39, so i wouldn't go there personally. The feel, fit and finish is still superior on the older cars imo

Where were you living when you walked the dog through Wallis Close?

I had an E39 touring 230,000-240,000 miles before I blew the engine

Hindsight is a awesome factor of course. I'd had the E39 a few generations, modded it as far as i preferred to go and always thought an X5 as the designed version of the E39 Viewing, so ordered one. I had both for about per several weeks some time to so nearly reneged on the E39 buy. I sometimes wish i had. An E39 Viewing is eye-catching all over again now the X5 the begining is broken.
