Hi

My left hand side of my MID is dull in that I mean during day time it is difficult to read from it so for instance when I select stop watch (for example) the STOP is hard to see but the rest is easy to see? Are these units back lit from small bulbs?

Ive had a look at all posts concerning the dead pixels on the MID ribbons etc but im not sure if my issues fits the same problem, perhaps somebody can advice me?

Thanks alot

Sounds more like an LED in the display strip is out. Replacement might be straightforward unless BMW in their wisdom have chosen to use Surface Mount Tech in which case you need special tools. No idea how you get inside the unit to check though, although there may be one or two here or on Xoutpost who have succeeded.

OK thanks for your help. I was worried that I might have to remove the instrument pod. I might dig out the chaps details in Southampton who repairs these things

Cheers
