Just though I would say hello and thank you all for the stuff on this site I have spend about a week going though in my X5 research.

I am looking at getting either an X5 or can I say a Merc ML for about 12 to 14k in the near future and found the info on here really usedfull.

Thanks Rich...

You are very welcome..

If you end up with the X5 - a much better choice than the Merc IMHO - then don't be a stranger.. :D

£12-14k should get you a good below average mileage 2005 E53. Mine went last Sept for £16k and prices are of course still falling.

You'll deffo end up in an x5 if you go and compare both.

his budget in ml's will get the new shape one (56 onwards) he wont get a e70 for that, i found a good garage called big motoring world when looking for a 3 series the other day, they have some seriously cheap x5s there nd they are all face lift e53s bar one or e70s, 100s of cars in stock!

yes, bundle them in the avoid category along with the internet car showroom in Hook, Hampshire. They seem to have pulled their reviews rating right back up by writing their own reviews too.

Is that the one in Swanley? If so - it's like a Car Supermarket. Lots of added surcharges and i would suggest looking round the car in detail - that said the screen prices are very competetive.

i am puzzled with the big motoring world, i googled them and got pretty much 50/50 in the review seaches for good and bad, there didnt seem to be any bad reviews about the cars mainly in after service complaints, however as previous menchioned no one ever seems to go online to write good reviews, some people expect a used car to be 100% trouble free for life and it says they get stock from bca auctions, x fleet and x bmw dealer. I dont see the problem as they are taking the risk, i also cant help thinking that with how competative the pricing is and with over 500 cars in stock they must shift a hell of alot of cars per week to keep going, and in that there are likely to be complaints, i am going to remain open minded about them!!

i went to big motoring world in kent they had 7 x5's, it was my first port of call before i bought mine .I actually thought their website was good and there was quite a few under the £1400 bracket i had . when i see what they had in person i couldnt get out quick enough there was a lot of damage that you wouldnt expect from a forcourt ripped leather had been bodged together scratches dents bad alloys i know there not new and maybe they would have done the things you wanted done but thats not how you sell a car.The salesman even said there was an additional £150 to go on top of the price for admin . To me it looks like they have driven straight from the aution onto forcourt.

Hence i didnt buy from there

to be fair though they are honest as most other garages will drive stright from auction, bodge up any bad bids then put on forecourt!
