BMW Dog Guard (Genuine BMW) removed from my X5 E53.
May fit other models, you will have to check. Good condition and comes with it's original carry bag.
The dog guard and bag are both black in colour. - £50

Not sure If it's the material netted item but if so then it was part of standard kit list on all uk supplied cars and not an extra.
Many cars absent of same as folk split when selling their cars.......
annoying for those absent of same but flip side is these are available secondhand now.

Yes it is a material netted one, I bought mine off of ebay and when I sold my X5 I kept it to sell on again.
I know a couple of people with X5's and none of theirs have come with a dog guard.

Yes....the net is standard kit in the uk,(this can be confirmed by BMW).
I can see why folk who have sourced nets later might want to sell them separtely to revover costs of the arlier purchased item.
Many who bought their cars as subesequent owners may have sold their nets whilst unaware the item was part of original kit for uk cars.
A few selling one owner cars must have sold cars without supplying the net with the car......whether to make a few quid or simply not including it with the cars when sold.
Folk only have to buy these as prior owners have sold a part of the car that was supplied as original kit to uk cars.

Where is the net meant to be out of interest? I've never looked for mine

Well in the back of mine is a bag the full width of the boot up against the back seat and boot floor. The bag is probably 3 to 4" in diameter
I say probably because I've never opened it, just looked at and wondered what on earth it is apart from in the way
might sell mine too
look up BMW X5 Net Dog Guard on ebay and you'll see a few

Just my 2p worth on this: I always thought the net in the fabric bag was actually intended to stop luggage coming forward if you were carrying so much it was piled up high in the boot. I thought the dog guard is actually a metal grid (rather than a fabric one). Happy to be corrected though...

There plastic netted.
Have metal fixings in each corner to pop into the roof holes and two sturdy almost seat belt clips that hook onto the back seats.
If you use the other two forward mounted roof holes above the reaer doors the bottom half of the dog guard then unwinds down to the floor (with back seats folded down) so you can contain your beasts in a now huge play area.
I use mine all the time and its a truly magnificent design and fit.

Yes that is correct. Many refer to the cargo net as a dog net or dog guard. whilst adequate for most now chewing dogs the cargo net is meant to stop cargo slipping forwatrd onto occupants.
Iirc BMW sold several dog guards, one being a mesh metal screen that sits behind the rear seats, the other being similar but also with a split section of mesh that runs length of luggage bay. I belive they also made a solid 6 sided crate that fits in the luggage compartment.
Happy to stand corrected.
Either way the OP's advert is getting plenty of bumps & publicity.

this shows a good picture. The bottom half remains rolled up unless you use the rear car section as i detailed above.
