Brands Hatch - DTM racing 5th September

I received an invitation to join the BMW hospitality suite at Brands Hatch for the races from yesterday. Very good view from next to the straight, and for those interested, right next to Vicky Butler-Henderson who was rather, uh, pregnant (her brother was racing in the Abarth 500 race).
The day had some interesting races, it started off with some Mercedes AMG driving around just for the sake of it (what a job to have) and the gurgle of those engines / exhausts was just lovely ...
There was a Formula 3 race, a Formula Ford, Lotus Elise, Abarth 500, Porsche GT and the DTMs.
Earplugs for the DTM were required, so had to buy those as the noise was horrendous. There were only Mercedes and Audi in the race, and David Coulthard was racing as well. The Audis sounded excellent, some Mercedes sounded nice and some sounded awful (like a F1 whine pitch). The cars were fast, very fast. This made the race of the Lotus Elises look like a slow motion event and the Abarth 500 looked like they were hardly moving
Fun events of the day: Lotus, they were hilarious. From the 15 or so cars that started, 7 did not finish the race as they either broke down or ended up in the gravel. The Fiats looked also rather interesting on track as they would sometimes go sideways around the bend. The Porsches were extremely composed and the DTM cars were just brutal. The formula 3 and formula Ford was a little bland for my liking.
All in all a good day out, compliments of a dealer.
