Sorry, i know this is nothing to do with X series cars, but wondered if any of the membership have any experiences with any other BMW's (particularly 3 series) on winter tyres :driving: . My brother-in-law was going on at christmas about a video he'd seen of a 5 series on winter tyres, seemingly it was very impressive (depends on driver i know!).
Got me thinking though.
Our other car is a mini clubman which i have on winter tyres but haven't had a chance to experience in the snow yet!
Hope everyone is enjoying the festive season.

Generally, people seem very pleased with their winter set ups on other BMWs - there is a very long dedicated thread on BMW Land about this and just about every BMW model is represented!

Thanks for that guys. I reckon we'll change the X5 in 2012 & don't want to restrict us to just 4x4's if we don't need to.
To be honest i was hoping for a lot of snow again this year so i could test out the mini! There's time yet i suppose.

I've run all my BMW's on Winter tyres since I've been living in Lux , which includes 3 E36's
2 E39's and my E53 and I'm happy with the way things have gone .
Under most conditions I havn't been stuck in any of them .

My current cars all use Continentals and I find them very good , and a reasonable price too
especially compared to Michelin and Pirelli .

Winter tyres do make a huge difference to the other BMW models. I remember one the guys from Shropshire on M5board running his E60 M5 on winters and having no problems at all even in quite deep snow, etc.

Dave (on EvoT) last year ran his E90 320d also through the snow on winters and was happily coping with inclines that other motorists couldn't drive up.
