Glow plug fuse?

Next on my list of issues to tackle is the alleged failure of all 6 glow plugs (alleged by Scanner 1.4.0). I suppose it is possible that all 6 have failed but I'd like to eliminate anything upstream of the plugs first. So, is there a fuse in the system? Nothing obvious on the legends for the fuses in the glove box so is there a fuse elsewhere? Next in line would be the controller I suppose but I can test this by measuring the voltage on one of the glow plug leads. Not quite as easy to get at as a fuse though (if there is one) . I can but hope.

I had that error and it was the glow plug control box, not the actual plugs.

I suspect I have the same issue but don't really want to lash out ££££s on a controller if it isn't actually faulty. So looking for a means to test it first. Having said that, does anyone have a source of "cheap" controllers?

It was labour that made it expensive for me as the manifold had to come off for that.

As pvr said it's the labour that's expensive on this job being such an awkward job to do. I did mine a while back and the 1.4.0 scanner was spot on with it's diagnosis see here.....

Just to add glow plugs from my dealer were £18.59 each and the glow control unit was £90.84.
I don't bother with real oem any more for part numbers/costs i just read though all my bmw parts invoices as i have so many now
