Battery swap

Post by sapphireblack » Sat Dec 17, 2011 1:51 pm

So starting has been a bit tricky off and on as i don't use the car much these days so i've been leaving it on a trickle charger by habit.

Some will know i had a wee bump in the car so it was away at the bodyshop for a few days. It was doubtless shunted around in that time and when i went to collect it, it needed a jump. Eight miles to home, a quick stop off at the local supermarket for provisions, (beers tbh ;) ) out to the car and 'click'

OK i thought, it's probably new battery time so a Bosch S5 found it's way to me on Thursday and i just fitted it.

What has now pee'd me off is, i see on the original BMW battery there is a condition status window and its green, fully charged a ready to roll.

Bugger!

I have had batteries say that but under load they collapse not giving true performance yet seem ok, yours i bet will be the same and if you notice a differance with your new baby its all worthwhile plus you know its new for peace of mind.

Having got as far as i did, i wasn't going to put the BMW brand battery back in (£165+VAT according to my dealer  ) so it's in the garage for now. I didn't notice any date labels but it could easily be original looking at it which would make it ten years or so, but i suspect there has been one change in that time frame.
