Smashed X5 :o(

Post by Mrgee » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:10 pm

Seems to be a bad omen at the moment!

After getting her back it's only been a month, and someone last week hit the front bumper in a car park £1000 worth of damage, then this week someone crashed into the back of me causing £3000 worth of damage. Then this weekend some ba**ard keyed the front wing - £800, which I haven't had done. Thinking of getting Chipsaway, anyone used a company like this to repair deep scratches?

BMW are dealing with the repairs, I have to say that the service has been faultless. They said that they would be here today at 11:00 with a brand new courtesy X5 (which I wasn't expecting at all). A gentleman turned up bang on 11:00 suited and booted and dropped off a brand new 4.0D X5, and drove away ours.

What a lovely machine it is too. 1st thing I noticed was how light the steering was, and also how light the doors are! Anyway looking forward to driving her tomorrow, I wonder if it's a lot more thirsty than the 3.0D?

Oh well, at least it's saving on clocking up the milage!

Not been your week at all by the sounds of it - still, trouble comes in threes or so it is said, and you've had 3!

The new versions have an additional electric motor to boost the steering assistance at low speed. It caught me out when
I got back in the E53 as it was so heavy I thought summat was wrong.

Economy wise, the 40D should be more economical. My X6 is 3-5mpg more economical on urban and 8mpg better on the motorway, and the 8sp auto is simply sublime as is the extra 80 odd bhp!! You won't want to give it back :D
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Trouble you will find is, you will want to trade your E53 for the E70

Swmbo prefers the E53 styling, but in an ideal world......

Sorry to hear you have had such a bad run of it but enjoy the courtesy X while you have it

If only I had the £££ to change!! You know what rusty nail, I was thinking the same about the styling, though I do like the rear light sections! X5sport, your not wrong about the 8 speed box, it is simply sublime, just like the felling when I had the new 5 series. Looking forward to giving it a bootful, in the next hr!!
