i was on the way home tonight when the wipers went really slow and funny, i thort they were going to stop then they splutterd back to life... then i go to stop them after 10 miles of working and they now stop in the oposite position (up) if you know what i mean they start from where they should go to and sweep down to where they should be then go back up and stop at the top again :?

Hi, sounds like the wiper arms may be loose on the splines ?
Check if there is a nut securing each arm to the spindle & if it is loose.
If so you'll need to re-align the wipers in park position & re-tighten them.
Regards, Phil.

i would say there could be a problem with a electrical connector probably under the bonnet near the wiper motors or a relay , if loose on splines they would be all over the place , but they are just behaving strange, could also be a location sensor within the motor
hope its just a loose connector
good luck

yeh i have ruled out loose on splines as it would be strange to get them both loose at same time and they have not moved again since, also they work perfectly still just back to front!! however if im going electrical fault finding i need some idea of what im checking, anyone know where the relay is located for the wipers.

Sounds like a motor/box issue. The park pos is usually stuck in there somewhere.
I know VW/Ford had issues with the plating corroding on the wiper linkage mech and then seizing in the bushings which would slow things up and burn out motors etc, if BM is similar but has a slip-able drive arrangement (just a thought) that could explain the miss-position.

Good luck with the fault finding and hope it's a cheap fix

is the park position built into the motor linkage setup as i can get a complete unit for £60, well ive com to the conclusion the wipers cant of slipped same as if the wiper moter had skipped a few teeth where it engauges with the linkage i figured that the normal cylcle would either put them from normal position to on the bonnet or from the up position to off the side of the car!! im thinking just get the complete unit and fit it asap, i had a headlight bulb go tonight too! grrrr

The park contact unit is built into the motor. £60 is very cheap if it's a good unit and it's very easy to fit.
Think that's your best option.

FIXED, it seems that it had come slightly loose where the motor was connected into the linkage and it was out by 90 degrees so i loosened it then carfully by abit of trial and error relocated it back to where it should have been and tightened everything up, 1 hour later £00s and fixed job done.
