I charged my battery over the last 24 hours (new Bosch Silver S5 that i got on Friday - see my other post about glow plugs and battery!) - I used a CTEK 6000 charger - after 24 hours the status has never changed from half full to full. however When I unplug the CTEK and re-plug it back in straight away the LED indicator light turns green to show its fully charged.
Why does it not do this through charging? For all I know it could have been fully charged 12 hours ago. Next time I will unplug after an hour or two and replug to see if it changes.

battery charger
Re: battery charger
i've only seen this on a battery with a problem, I had something similar on the original battery on my E53 when it was about 5 years old.
Hmm, do you have another vehicle you an try the charger on - just to eliminate a charger issue. You just might have a duff battery - it does happen, even to brand new - if the battery got mishandled in storage for example. Is there a production date on the new battery?
Look for a code near the terminals that might look like '092010', or '0910' for Sept 2010, or possibly a letter and number code like 'A10' for Jan 2010. Some Bosch batteries also have an expiry date code which might be 'EX' and a date. They should not be sold after that date has passed.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
