Service lights wont reset

I bought a 2002 4.4 sport yesterday. As a rule of thumb i always change the oil and filter on any car i get. I have tried to reset the service lights with my snap on scanner and it said it has been done but on the dash it hasnet changed. I also tried the manual way by holing down the left button on the clocks and turning the key still no luck. I wondered if any of you guys have had this problem?

i did mine on the inpa reader thing, i could not get it to work pressing holding milometer buttons etc like instructions on auto data
