From the reviews I have read so far, it sounds like a bit of an animal and definitely a car I would like to own! However, I'm not sure if I like the charged engine... much preferred the brute power of the normally aspirated previous versions. Especially the last V10.

Turks.

Gotta agree there.
BMW said they'd never make a folding hardtop on an M car. They did.
BMW said they'd never use forced induction. They did.
Ultimate Driving Machine has become JOY.
They have droppped the manual option on so many models.

Not really sure I like where this is all going!!!!

(By the way, as of next month you will not be able to buy any Ferrari in manual)

'Oop North m8, Manchester.
TBH it's not the best time to be looking at a gas guzzler, but the new engine does theoretically give a better return on mpg than its predecessor.
Might just decide that the 40d is brutal enough for me; who knows.
Pics if I remember my camera/they will let me ;-)

Went to see it today..........and drove straight passed it !!!

IT was parked out the front in Sapphire Black and I didn't even spot it.

Looked ok closer up

This was the showroom car (parked outside)

The demo was out the back in Monte Carlo or Monaco Blue or whatever it is called (M only colour which helps it stand out a bit)

Tech just started it up to drive away and it sounded quite nice.

Test drive with this dealer and my own in the next couple of weeks - told them to get some miles on them before I had a go !

I'll let you know what falls off when you stick your foot down on low mileage ones later ;-)

Turns out it's a viewing day today, so no test drives.
I've baled. Strange because the salesman sold me my X6 so must surely realise I am not a tyrekicker.
They must feel confident of getting a full order book just when we are about to double dip. Good luck with that approach.
HARRUUUMPH!!

Updated: turns out I can have a drive, just not this weekend. May consider it but, being impulsive, the thought/desire has simply passed over me following the developments of this morning. Time is such a precious commodity these days and I have little of it to waste unfortunately; hence rather blunt decisions from time to time!

I had one today, it is very comfortable and quiet, had a lovely sound when pushed and blipped and does speed well, but doesn't feel very special for that money or its ability and left a bit cold, turbo lag was immense too (might have been something to do with the gearbox being a pain) :(
Very good at being subtle though and a very comfortable and well appointed place to be, the search continues.
