Hi

Occasionally, when unlocking the X5, the alarm goes off. There seems to be no regularity as to when it will happen - sometimes when the car is first unlocked in the morning, other times with no problems - sometimes when the car has been parked only for a few minutes.

It can be a bit of a hassle to get the alarm to stop sounding - usually a lot of button pressing on the key fob.

Had no problems with the alarm going off when the car is locked.

The only other odd thing I have noticed (but probably not linked) is that the Sat Nav sometimes loses the last recorded destination.

Hopefully someone here may be able to help with this, as it is baffling me and my garage. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

X555 had this and it was the bonnet switch, common issue...

Can't remember for sure but worth a quick search.

I had a look earlier - and was under the impression that this related to the alarm going off when the car was locked. However, I will have another check.

Mine is consistently when the car is being unlocked - odd as I would have assumed that in unlocking the car, the alarm would be deactivated.

Disconnect it and see what happens...

Mine was when car wad locked and going off at random.

It doesn't look like it is the bonnet switch - have disconnected this, and the alarm still sounded this morning when I unlocked the car.

Could this be related to the state of the battery - it has never been replaced, so now nearing 7 years old it must be on its last legs. I also wondered whether this was causing the loss of the last destination on the sat nav screen.

Could well be as the battery can cause all sorts of probs if weak.

Voltage test on the battery then next ......... thanks.
