hi folks
Great to see that the new site is up and running. Well done to all involved.
Anyway, back to business at hand.
My name's Tony and I live in Aberdeenshire. Was a member of the previous site and found some great advice and hopefully contributed a wee bit too.
Things have changed since the last site was up and running - I have sold the 56 Reg 3.0D Sport and bought an 06 Reg 3.0D Sport Exclusive with sunroof, nappa leather and xenons (love it!). Pics will follow once I actually take them - I only got it on Sat.
This is my third X5 (first one was 54 Reg) so hopefully, I've got some good experience and knowledge with these.
Look forward to posting some new pics and sharing advice with everyone.
Cheers
Tony

Thanks guys and yes it is a good choice!!
Can anyone confirm the difference between a Le Mans and an Exclusive (mine is blue by the way, so until somebody tells me differently I'll assume it is Le Mans Blue!?!)
Thanks
Tony

Hi slieverue and welcome aboard the new improved version
Think I remember you from the old site, did you have the Titanium 3.0d? A little confused re above comments the Le Mans Ed only came in Le Mans Blue, however the Exclusive came in Carbon Black (aka 5heps car) and Stratus Grey. Carbon Black can look dark blue in bright sun light. Best to post some pics up, which will make identification easier. You could also look at AW8's buyers guide, near the bottom is more detail of the various models

Hi Chompers
yeah that was my silver 3.0d - I added the titanium grills etc and also added HID's. I did a "how to" on the HID's on the last site but I don't have a record of it. I still have the pictures so I will get round to doing a description in due course - but in the mean time if anyone has any questions relating to HID conversion, just ask.
Here's a pic before the titamium grill was added.
Righto about the version of X5 I've got - it was advertised as a sports exclusive, but as you said it must be a Le Mans Edition as it's blue with the 20" alloys and wheel arch extensions. I'll post some pics tomorrow, but in the meantime a wee refresher course is in order!!
Cheers
Tony

Better looking than the silver 56 plate slieverue - mind me asking why you changed? Or have I just answered that!

thanks guys - yes I'm very pleased with my purchase.
My reasons for changing are basically mileage. I'm currently doing about 20-25,000 miles per year, so I try and buy a car with lowish miles, keep it for a year and sell it on without it depreciating too much.
I know a lot of you will think it kinda stupid to run a car like an X5 especially when doing that kind of mileage per year, but we live in the sticks and up a dirt track road so AWD is important, but so is the ride and comfort. The X5 ticked more boxes than a Landrover or AWD Audi or Volvo (seriously who'd buy a Volvo!!
). And if last winter was anything to go by I'll need a 4X4 again - the X with winter shoes on is as good as anything else on the road!!
Anyway, bought the silver X with 27,000 miles on it and sold it with 49,000 on it with an overall loss of less than £2,000 in a year. Not bad in my book....
The current one has 26,000 miles on it and I pretty much plan on doing the same in about a years time, hopefully with minimal depreciation!!
But mainly, I've always wanted a Le Mans and this one came up with low mileage, great spec and a very good price!!!
The only problem in a years time is what to get then - do I go for the E70??? Hmm probably!!
