European headlamp adjustment?

Just been travelling in Europe and I found it pretty much impossible to find the lever to change the dip direction. It's very tight in there - I could feel a metal spring type piece which doesn't move much (maybe 1/8 inch) which feels more like a bulb retainer. If I get my finger deep inside I can just about feel a loose piece of plastic with the very tip.

Anyone tell me how it's supposed to work? The diagram in the owners manual shows a halogen headlamp and says that the xenon is slightly different. Wondering if my lever(s) have come loose. If so I guess it'll need the headlamp removing so I can take the back cover off?

Hi,
I used a mirror to locate mine but decided that a) it was too much hassle to get to & b) I was concerned it would break as it didn't seem to want to move so I just left them.
I travelled for 10 days through France with no problems, I never got flashed once.
Phil.

When the black rubber cap is removed, it should be quite easy to see the levers. They are silver and about 5mm wide and are in the vertical position. They move from left to right and the lever moves about 20 - 30mm each way. You don't need to put your fingers too far into the hole once the cap has been removed. I do it at the port each time I go abroad.
