Hi everyone,
Was sitting in my car trying to sort out my phone (bluetooth) when I noticed a 'whirring' noise which seems to be coming from just above the cigarette lighter.........nothing was turned on and the key was in the ignition................
Any ideas?

Not that your facelift should suffer from it but check for the aircon fan/FSR/hedgehog. Battery OK?
It's late, go back indoors - bluetooth in the morning.

Its the fan, which if the FSR (final stage resistor, aka "Hedgehog") is working properly, should stop after about 15 minutes of locking the car. If the FSR is faulty, the whirring will carry on and on and eventually fdrain the battery.
If you want to check if the whirring goes away, lock the car on the fob when you are still inside, and disarm the interior sensor (press the BMW button on the fob twice - once to lock, once to disarm the interior sensor) then read a book or the newspaper and wait for 20 minutes to see if the whirring stops. Remember, you can't switch the ignition on to play the radio or it will defeat the object of you being in the car in the first place!!!
Otherwise, if after locking, the car starts up quite normally after being parked up overnight or perhaps a day or two, your battery is likely to be ok. But that's where battery drain usually lurks. The whirring is quite normal, nothing wrong with that, but it should stop within 20 minutes.
